A little more about Cllr Pat Beighton

I moved to this area is 2006 with my partner Allan, now my husband, while we were both still working full time.

In 2005 I enrolled on an Open University degree course in Social Science and Environment completing this in 2010, gaining a Bachelor of Arts degree. Not bad for a Secondary Modern educated girl who left school at 15.

In 2011 I applied for a vacant seat on Wickersley Parish Council and was accepted, this was an opportunity for Public Service and utilising some of what I had learnt.

Joining the Environment Committee was an obvious choice and which presents interesting challenges. I was voted Vice Chairman of the Environment Committee and then Chair in .

I also joined the Human Resource Committee, having worked in this field previously, and Wickersley Parish Council Events Committee in which helps steer the various events the Parish Council have developed over recent years.

While I have been chair of the Environment Committee, we have replaced some of the older benches in the Parish with recycled plastic benches, sourced from a company in the Peak District, and we are committed to a rolling plan of replacement over the next few years.

Looking to the future our aim is to improve the quality of life for residents and the general environment is at the forefront of our deliberations and we we would welcome residents input.
